Appalachian Winter Community Chorus

Community Chorus of Florence presents Appalachian Winter, a Folk Christmas Cantata on Sunday, December 13th at 2 pm. Appalachian Winter, written by Joseph Martin, is a cantata that celebrates the legacy of early American carols and hymnody. Composed in the spirit of folk music, the cantata combines traditional sounds with more rustic elements creating a blend that is fresh and pleasing. Popular American carols like "Away In a Manger" and "O, Little Town of Bethlehem" dance with traditional spirituals such as "Children, Go Where I Send Thee" and" Go, Tell It on the Mountain."  Thoughtful narration weaves the movements together in a meaningful tapestry of song and Scripture. The Chorus will be directed by interim Co-Directors Elise Arnold and Paul Gauthmuller.

Special guest performers are from the Siuslaw Valley Children's Choir and Flotones. For more information visit www.communitychorusflorenceor.org.
