FACC Aging In Place

Coming on Friday, June 22, the Florence Area Community Coalition (FACC) hosts the second “Aging in Place: a plan for the future” Forum. The number of Americans 65 and older is expected to double over the next 25 years. An overwhelming majority of people say they want to grow old in their own homes and communities, or “age in place.” However, only 25% of seniors have a plan for how they will do so. FACC offers this Forum to help people make a personal plan and to assess community resources which support such plans. Doors open at 9:45 a.m so that participants can be seated for an inspiring keynote address from Jatunn Gibson, PhD, Aging in Place Manager for Habitat for Humanity International. Ms. Gibson has over 25 years of experience in healthcare. In her current role with Habitat, she is responsible for both setting and implementing Habitat’s strategy for Aging in Place. Aging in Place is a holistic approach where Habitat collaborates with other organizations to meet older adults’ priorities by providing products and services to foster safe, livable homes and communities, thereby improving the quality of life for older adults.  After the keynote, folks can enjoy a series of information-packed workshops and browse the many exhibitor tables. The event is free and open to the public thanks to our sponsors: Peace Health, Habitat for Humanity, City of Florence, and Lane Council of Governments. For more information call 541-999-2927.
