Florence Festival of Books

Florence Festival of Books, 10th Anniversary—a happening event!

Wonder no more! Yes, the Florence Festival of Books (FFOB) will be happening on September 17–18 at the Florence Events Center. One week earlier than it normally takes place. This popular event celebrates its 10th Anniversary with an impressive line up of speakers on Friday. All festival activities are open to the public and all festival activities are free.

Popular and greatly admired Oregon authors Bob Welch and William Sullivan provide the star power for the Friday afternoon panel discussion held 3 to 4:30 p.m. And that evening, Keynote Speaker Melody Carlson takes the stage at 7 p.m. She is one of America’s most prolific and beloved romance authors with more than 250 books to her credit and more than one Hallmark Channel movie. All three will be at the book fair the next day.

The book fair takes place 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday and is open to participation by authors and publishers. THIS YEAR, APPLICATIONS WILL BE ACCESSIBLE ONLINE BEGINNING MID-JULY. START  CHECKING WEBSITE EARLY JULY FOR EXACT DATE.

For the public, this is an opportunity to speak with the authors who wrote the books. Expect to see many genre: fiction, non-fiction, children’s books, history, mystery, fantasy, romance, memoir. And for wannabe authors, it’s a chance to pitch your idea or show your manuscript to a publisher.

The FFOB will be the same enjoyable event, although accommodations may have to be made due to the pandemic. The Events Center and the FFOB will follow all guidelines applicable at that time.

So, authors, publishers, and everyone else, too, mark your calendars for the FFOB on September 17-18. For more information, check the website www.florencefestivalofbooks.com or contact the FEC by calling 541-997-1994 or emailing  Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. – 1 p.m.
