Abandoned

Voted “Best Haunt in Oregon 2018 & 2024” by Oregon Haunted Houses, CROW’s 8th Scare-C.R.O.W. Haunted Maze, entitled “Abandoned” will be held 5 nights- October 24th, 25th, 29th, 30th, and 31st from 6-9 PM.  A “Less Scary Hour” geared toward younger kids and big chickens will be held on Saturday, October 25th from 5-6 PM, with the maze transitioning back to very scary at 6 PM.  Suggested minimum age for the regular maze is 8+, and entry is always at parents’ discretion, and at your own risk.  The maze is held indoors at the Florence Events Center (715 Quince Street), providing fully accessible restroom facilities, concessions, lobby boutique, and photo opportunities.  The maze is also ADA accessible, and C.R.O.W. welcomes all bodies to take their chances with survival.

The Storyline: In 1926, the majestic Theatre Macabre was the place to be seen. Now, after nearly a century, the crumbling building sits decaying and forgotten.  No one knows who stabbed the young actress, Evelyn Corvid, or why she was there that night. No one came to claim her mangled body. Now, she haunts these halls, seeking revenge for her brutal slaying.

“Our Haunted Maze gets spookier and scarier, year after year!” said CROW’s Artistic Director, Melanie Heard.  “This year’s 1920’s abandoned theater theme opens up some really ghoulishly delightful scare opportunities!”  This year, Heard is co-designing the maze with multi-talented Tina Ferkey, who has created several past props and set pieces for C.R.O.W.  “The whole Ferkey family is incredible,” says Heard.  “They can create just about anything, including the giant crow you may have seen ‘flying’ down 101 in this year’s Rhody Parade.”

C.R.O.W.’s previous mazes such as “Carn-EVIL of Terror,” (2024)“Twisted,”(2023) “Freak Show,” (2019) and “Quarantine” (2018) mazes showed so much deadly appeal that over 1000 guests passed through annually, often traveling from as far away as Astoria, Bandon, Eugene/Springfield, Brookings, Washington, and California.

The Scare-C.R.O.W. Haunted Maze is an annual fundraiser for C.R.O.W.’s non-profit arts program.  All funds support many vitally needed projects, such as ongoing camps, dance classes, and workshops, a Spring youth mainstage musical (Seussical, 2026), a Spring Dance Showcase with special guests from outside of Florence, and the beloved annual Christmas scripted variety show, The Holly Jolly Follies.

“All funds raised help to keep our program alive, which is ironic since the Haunted Maze is celebrating all things….DEAD,” joked Heard.

Maze admission is $12 per person, $18 for a fast pass (front of line), or $44 for a party of four (must be used same night).  Tickets are sold at the door by cash or credit card.  Sponsorships are needed to offset venue rental cost of $5,500, and volunteer scare-actor opportunities are available.  For more information including photos, videos, and FAQ’s, please visit www.crowkids.com/haunted-maze  To contact C.R.O.W. by email: crowtheatrekids [at] yahoo.com (crowtheatrekids[at]yahoo[dot]com)

About "Abandoned"

In 1926, the majestic Theatre Macabre was the place to be seen. Now, after nearly a century, the crumbling building sits decaying and forgotten.

No one knows who stabbed the young actress, Evelyn Corvid, or why she was there that night. No one came to claim her mangled body. Now, she haunts these halls, seeking revenge for her brutal slaying.

But she’s not alone; she’s accompanied by rats, cockroaches, twisted vines, and the cursed spirits of those who once inhabited the Theatre Macabre.

So, come and take your places please.  But be warned….

The only thing that will take center stage now is your certain demise.
